This book comprises the select proceedings of the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Traditional and Technical Textiles (ICETT 2019), and examines the latest developments and automation in the field of textile technology. The topics covered include geotextiles, filters, medical textiles, functional finishing of textiles, composites, sustainable textile materials, and pollution in the textile industry. The book also discusses various aspects of traditional textiles including traditional methods of designing textiles, traditional textiles as a new avatar for technical textiles, traditional and technical assets of Indian and Asian culture: phulkari, bagh, kalamkari and chope embroideries. Dr. Vinay Kumar Midha is a Professor in the Department of Textile Technology at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India. His academic and research experience spans over 25 years after having one year industrial experience during which he worked on several research projects supported by various funding agencies. His specialization and areas of interest include sewing threads, dynamics of sewing process, non-woven fabrics, waterproof breathable fabrics, medical and healthcare textiles, and runoff erosion control using natural fibre geomeshes. He has contributed over 100 research papers in reputed international and national peer reviewed journals and international conferences. He has written seven book chapters for Woodhead Publications and has also filed two patents. He is also involved in the review process for many reputed journals in the field of textile technology.

 

Dr. A. Mukhopadhyay is a Professor in the Department of Textile Technology at National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India. His academic and research experience spans over 28 years with two years of industrial experience. His field of interest is diverse and interdisciplinary in nature encompassing filtration science and technology especially in industrial gas filtration and pollution control. He has contributed to more than 180 research publications in reputed academic and applied journals, conference proceedings etc. His publications also include 12 monographs/book chapters encompassing different areas of technical textiles. He has successfully carried out several consultancy and research project supported by DST, CSIR, MHRD, TIFAC and World Bank Assisted Project. He presented his research at international conferences held in countries like the USA, UK, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, South Korea, and China. He has been a scientific committee member of International Nonwoven Technical Conferences (INTC 2007 & INTC 2008 held in the USA), World Filtration Congress (WFC 11, Graz; WFC12, Taiwan, WFC13, San Diego, CA), and also FILTECH (2013-2019 held in Germany). He also chaired sessions at international conferences such as World Filtration Congress WFC11 held at Graz, Austria on April 16-20, 2012 and FILTECH Conferences held in Germany (2011-2019).
