INTRODUCTION

Our existence in this world is not as it appears. We must realize that we are not just on this plane or in this form alone and that consciousness manifests as spirit beings who exist outside of our ordinary experience of the physical world. Some are friendly, some are those we need not be concerned about, and others are harmful. For our context, a spirit being is just an incorporeal being of an individual, not bound to a physical body.

Anyone has the potential to communicate with these incorporeal beings, who surround us and are always accessible if we are open to them. This book relates the encounters that my wife Theresa and I experienced in our early lives as we developed our psychic and spiritual talents and raised a family. This journey was both a troubling and fantastic adventure.

Over the decades, we were fortunate to learn from many physical and nonphysical teachers, spirit beings, guardians, friends, various beings in different forms, and masters through books, classes, and trance communications. These experiences have confirmed my belief that we exist beyond our physical bodies, that we continue to live after bodily death, that other races of beings exist in different dimensions, and that the so-called supernatural is very much real.

The method of interfacing that my wife and I used to communicate with these beings is what I call spirit trance, which blends the consciousness of two different beings during a trance state. Usually, one being remains in a spirit realm while the other occupies the physical world as a medium.

In this book, we have divided the beings and entities we encountered within the spirit realm into three groups.

The first group consists of those who are light or divine meaning spiritually aware beings from Divine Providence who teach virtue, wisdom, compassion, and love. They are developing themselves by assisting other sentient beings in our world and other realms. By exploring the universe’s mysteries, they are devoted to advancing universal wisdom.

The second group consists of the dark or corrupted ones. These are spirit entities who work against the light. They work to spread darkness, confusion, fear, and falsehoods, as well as disrupt the cosmic laws of righteousness and harmony.

The mundane make up the third group. These are ordinary humans or spirits with limited psychic perceptions, minimal mystical or religious interests, and no active spiritual pursuit. They exist in both the material world and the spirit realm. They may also be considered unaware, sleepy, or lost.

There are other beings with distinctive characteristics and intentions. In the material world, the profanes are the representatives of the dark ones. They may or may not know they work for corrupted entities, but they still act for their own selfish purposes, regardless of whom their actions hurt. They gain pleasure, wealth, or power by causing suffering to the innocent.

We also have lightworkers or spiritual practitioners. They help carry out soul dharma, balance karma, teach sacred knowledge, and work to heal, guide, and spread truth, compassion, and love to all sentient beings. They even offer the profane an opportunity to correct their path toward liberation.

As it happened, the path Theresa and I chose in this odyssey led us directly into conflict with the dark ones and their agents—the profanes.

Since I was very young, I have always been fascinated by the variety of life and the mysteries of energy. As a boy of around twelve years old, I wondered, how did it all begin? Why did it all start? What energy or force caused the universe to happen? Why is there something rather than nothing?

My Catholic religion’s standard answer was unsatisfying: “God works in mysterious ways.” So, I started my curated travels by examining other faiths, cultures, philosophies, histories, folklore, legends, and mysteries. I spent long hours in bookstores and libraries reading esoteric literature and mystical material.

Akili, a friend of my father, was an alchemist and a Rosicrucian. When he closed his bookstore, I borrowed two books from him: The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P. Hall and Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon. Although I have made many attempts to complete the latter book over the years, I have not been able to do so. (An aspirant who chooses to follow Franz Bardon’s courses may not truly advance until all the previous steps are successfully mastered. This often makes completion difficult and at times frustrating for one who is not completely committed.) However, I felt such a profound desire to bring paranormal experience into my life that I often got into situations I may not have been ready for, as you will see as this story unfolds.

Other books I examined covered astral projection (the ability to journey outside the physical body while remaining connected, aka an out-of-body experience), Pranic Healing, yoga, hypnosis, chakras, mediumship, and psychic phenomena. Some of the many authors and titles included Jane Roberts’s The Seth Material, Ruth Montgomery’s Here and Hereafter, Edgar Cayce’s Reincarnation and Karma, Ram Dass’s Be Here Now, Joseph J. Weed’s Wisdom of the Mystic Masters, Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, Charles W. Leadbeater’s The Chakras and Man Visible and Invisible, Levi H. Dowling’s The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ, Swami Vishnudevananda The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga, Leslie M. LeCron’s The Complete Guide to Hypnosis.

I was also influenced by watching public access television and PBS programs on tai chi, yoga, and psychic phenomena. Since none of my friends were interested in these studies, I practiced independently. I followed Yoga for Health with Richard Hittleman and Tai Chi for Well-Being and Health by another instructor. I watched Damien Simpson’s Psychic Phenomena and visited his Universal Mind Science Church in Long Beach, California, with my father. These shows would inspire me to produce my own public access programs with my wife many years later.

I also learned transcendental meditation techniques and attended Science of Mind and New Age churches in Los Angeles with my father. He was very instrumental in my search for spiritual wisdom early in life. Together, we sought the truth in religious matters. I also read a book that set me on a magician’s path: Techniques of High Magic by Stephen Skinner and Francis King. Excited and curious, I followed its instructions on preparing for high-magic rituals, which involved creating magical tools. (Magic, as it related to my experiences, is the practice of using words, gestures, items, and movements to produce some control and manipulation of nature, animals, situations, and people. Its two primary paths involve using correspondence principles of the universe and communications of deities, gods, angels, ancients or ancestors, and other supernatural beings.)

One day, while practicing one of the techniques from Bardon’s Initiation into Hermetics on a school bus on the way to high school, I met Theresa, my future wife. Excited by the opportunity to practice my newfound ability on a beautiful girl, I asked if I could take the empty seat next to her. When she politely agreed, I sat down and introduced myself. Then, remaining quiet, I closed my eyes and began the exercise. She immediately asked me why I was trying to enter her mind. I was stunned! I told her I was practicing a technique from one of my magic books to develop my psychic abilities. When she expressed an interest, I got her phone number so I could talk to her more about her psychic experiences. Thus, we began a long and exciting friendship.

As a natural psychic, Theresa had experienced several paranormal events in her youth. She told me the story of a house in Saudi Arabia that she had lived in when she was eleven years old. Occasionally, Theresa sensed someone watching her. For example, she sometimes felt someone come up behind her while working in the kitchen and hug her so tightly that she had trouble catching her breath before it stopped. Another incident occurred when she was alone: Theresa heard a woman calling her name, telling her to come outside to a cistern and open it. When Theresa looked down at the dark, murky water, she saw two eyes looking up at her! She was so shocked that she dropped the lid and ran back into the house. Years later, her mother told her that the man who previously owned the property had killed his wife and put her body in the cistern.

Theresa also experienced highly detailed dreams about relatives whose physical life had expired. They told her things she had no other way of knowing, including details about their lives that were later confirmed.
